Dr. Subir Bera, Professor of Botany, University of Calcutta, was graduated in Botany from Presidency College, Kolkata and subsequently completed post graduation with specialization in Palaeobotany and Palynology from the University of Calcutta and got M.Phil.(Environmental Science) and Ph.D. degrees from the same University. He has over three decades of teaching and research experience in Palaeobotany-Palynology and other allied branches of Plant sciences. Currently he and his research group are trying to explore the cause and effects of past climate changes on plant communties in monsoon dominated Bengal Basin, Eastern Himalayas and south east Asia since the last 65 million years using multiproxy approaches
