ADMINSTRATIVE EXPERIENCE:
Acted as the Head of the Department(Chair) of History, University of Calcutta from September 2009 to September 2011.(The position is rotational among senior teachers). Acted as M.Phil. Course Coordinator for three and a half years, till February 2011. Serving as the M.Phil Coordinator for the second term from June 2015 onwards.
Acted as Coordinator (on three occasions) of Refresher Courses meant for academic refreshments of University and College teachers. Organized National and International Seminars on ten occasions. Acted as subject expert during the recruitment of College and University teachers as well as research scholars on numerous occasions. Carried out numerous inspections in the Colleges of West Bengal to check the availability of infrastructure. Acted as subject expert during the selection of school teachers at the secondary and higher secondary levels. SPECIAL HONOURS OTHER THAN FELLOWSHIPS:
Former member of the Ph.D Committee, in the Department of Islamic History and Culture, University of Calcutta, ( March, 2012 to 2015) (which is a Department Separate from the Department of History. I teach in the latter which has been declared as a Centre For Advanced Studies by the UGC. Only four other history departments in India enjoy similar status) I have been elected President of the Medieval India Section of the forthcoming Paschim Banga Itihas Samsad, held in the Lady Brabourne College, Kolkata, from 24-26 January 2013.(This is the regional version of the Indian History Congress). Acted as the external member of the Research Committee, Gourbanga University, W.Bengal. I also acted as the external member of the Board of Postgraduate Studies, W.Bengal State University. I am the Dy. Coordinator, Centre for Advanced Studies, Deptt of History, Calcutta University, for Phase II. Delivered Endowment Lectures and special lectures in several Institutions such as the „Institute of Historical Studies‟ (twice), The Iran Society, Kolkata, (twice), Indumati Sabhagriha, Jadavpur University (once), Victoria Memorial, Kolkata, (once), The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata (once). Delivered a series of Lectures on Islam as a part of the UNESCO recognized World Religions programme organized by The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture, Kolkata (four times). Acting as the external expert of the Doctoral Research Advisory Committee(History) at Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. Acting as the Member of the Ph.D Committee, in the Centre for Advanced Studies, History Deptt., Calcutta University . External Member of the Postgraduate Board of Studies in History at North Eastern Hill University, Shillong, Meghalaya, Jadavpur University, (History), W.Bengal, and Kalyani University,(History) W.Bengal . Visiting Professor, NEHU, Shillong, Subject Expert: Syllabus Framing Body, Alagappa University, Tamil Nadu. Selected as the member of the School Board of Social Sciences, NEHU, Shillong in Sept. 2019. Will 5 deliver a special lecture on Syncretistic thinking on 25 January,2020 in the Professor Abdul Wahab Mahmud Memorial Discussion, to be organized by the Paschim Banga Itihas Samsad.

Besides, I attended a seminar on Religious life in Atlanta in the Georgia State University(USA). Delivered lectures in Victoria University of Wellington (New Zealand) on 09 and 10 May, 2012, Dara Shukoh, Azad and India‟s Eclectic Traditions at Khulna in Nov, 2012, organized by Bangladesh Itihas Samiti. Chaired a session in the three days international conference on Realizing Justice in South Asia, held in the Max Weber Kolleg, University of Erfurt, Germany (11 to 13 June, 2014). Lectured on The Image of the Prophet in Eastern Indian and Bangladeshi Folk Tradition, in Uppsala University, Sweden, on 23 March 2016, (it was a Public Lecture). Presented paper on Sufism in the international Conference on Religion held in Erfurt, Germany in August, 2015. Presented paper on the eighteenth century sufi Bulleh Shah (of Punjab) in the international Conference organized by the AAS in Toronto, Canada, in March 2017. Presented paper in an International Conference on Religious Individualization in the sufi context in Eisenach, Germany, in June 2017. Delivered talks on South Asian Sufism in the Indology Department of Jagiellonian University, Krakow, Poland, in June, 2017.
