Study of Miniaturized Patch Microstrip Antenna with Circular Slot and SRR Optimization

In this article, a novel approach on miniaturization of a simple rectangular patch has been discussed. Microstrip feed line has been used to excite the structure at 2.45 GHz. By introducing circular slots in the patch the design has been optimized. The impact on reflection coefficient and overall size due to slots of different radius is studied thoroughly. To achieve better impedance matching and desirable antenna gain, a 3x3 array of Split Ring Resonator (SRR) is introduced at the ground plane. CST MICROWAVE STUDIO is used for the necessary simulation. © 2019 URSI.
