The equilibrium constants of the hydrogen-bonded complexes of pyridazine, diethyl nitrosoamine and benzophenone with five different alcohols have been estimated from the n→π* blue shift and the optical density measurements at the peak. The equilibrium constants have been found to increase in the order primary >secondary>tertiary. The role of various complicating factors in the oxygenated systems has been discussed. The free-energy change has been found to be in the range of 0.1-0.8 kcal/mole.
