Abstract
Outlines the author's perception of the trap in which Malaysian farmers find themselves: to improve the economic situation through agricultural exports, they must purchase several expensive inputs from the West. Focusing on one input and its attendant problems - pesticides - shows how workers, government and the large multinationals are bound up in a web of exploitation, profit and poison. There is an emerging resistance and an interest in traditional methods of pest control. -M.Amos
