Abstract
A theoretical study based on the use of admittance loci method in design of a plasmonic structure using transparent ceramic prism material and some other types of prism materials has been reported in this paper. A Kretschmann-Raether type prism-based plasmonic structure consisting of a prism, gold (Au) metal film and dielectric sample has been investigated with the use of admittance loci method in Attenuated Total Internal Reflection (ATIR) mode. High refractive index of ceramic material along with high detection accuracy offers certain advantages for sensing applications. Admittance loci plots, surface plasmon sensing curves along with surface plasmon resonance angle, angular shift and detection accuracy plots using transparent ceramic prism material has been compared with those for other types of prism materials in order to study their effects on surface plasmon sensing at 670 nm wavelength. © 2014 IEEE.
