The miofloral assemblage recovered is comparable to the non-striate disaccate Scheuringipollenites dominated assemblages recorded from the Middle Barakar Formation of Peninsular India. High frequency of occurrence of Marsupipollenites, good representation of Ginkgocycadophytus, subdominant occurrence of striate disaccate, apiculate groups of mioflora indicate a warmer, humid environment in east Bhutan than Peninsular Barakar Formation deposit, and deposited in an open marsh type swamp with slightly acidic to neutral pH, condition and positive Eh. The petrographic characteristics reveal that vitrinites are intimately mixed up with exinites as well as organic and inorganic inerts; exinites and and inertinites are some time in high concentration; microcomponent are brecciated at places. Evidence of microfaulting and folding are present. Rank of the coal is very low.-from Authors
