A multi-frequency cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (CDRA) excited with three different modes of similar broadside radiation patterns has been explored. Dominant HEM l1 δ and higher order HEM 111 and HEM 12δ modes are excited simultaneously in a conventional CDRA structure with radius to height ratio<1.0. A prototype realized from a block of dielectric constant 10 promises of 6 dBi, 7.3dBi and 9.5dBi peak gains at three operating frequency bands showing symmetrical radiation patterns over the principal planes. This should find suitable applications in modern multi-frequency/multi-band wireless communications. © 2018 IEEE.
