University of Calcutta (informally known as Calcutta University or CU) is a collegiate public state university located in Kolkata, West Bengal, India.&nbsp;Within India it is recognized as a &quot;Five-Star University&quot; and accredited &quot;A&quot; Grade by National Assessment and Accreditation Council.

It was established on 24 January 1857, and was one of the first institutions in Asia to be established as a multidisciplinary and Western-style university. Its alumni and faculty include several heads of state, heads of government, social reformers, prominent artists, only academy award winner and Dirac medal winner in India, many Fellows of the Royal Society and five Nobel laureates as of 2019 which is highest in South Asia.

‘Model complexes’ of palladium(II) and platinum(II) with pyrazole- and pyrimidine-derived ligands of biological interest

Using 3,5-dimethyl-1-(4′,6′-dimethyl-2′-pyrimidyl)pyrazole (DPymPz) as a coordinating ligand, palladium(II), platinum(II) and rhodium(III) complexes of the type [M(DPymPz)X2] (M = Pd(II), X = Cl, Br, I, SCN, ClO4, NO2, NO3; M = Pt(II), X = Cl, Br, SCN, NO2) and [Rh(DPymPz)2X3] (X = Cl, Br, I) habe been isolated in the solid state and characterized on the basis of analytical, magnetic and spectral (diffuse reflectance, UV-Vis, IR and 1H NMR) properties, together with powder X-ray diffraction studies. The Pd(II) and Pt(II)complexes are square-planar as expected and the Rh(III) species have pseudo-octahedral geometry. The calculated ligand field parameters are in favour of the proposed stereochemistry of the complexes. IR data point out the pyrazolyl nitrogen (tertiary) and one of the pyrimidyl nitrogens of DPymPz as bonding sites in forming these complexes. © 1987.

Metal complexes of pyrimidine-derived ligands. VII. Palladium(II), platinum(II) and rhodium(III) complexes with 3,5-dimethyl-1 -(4â€², 6â€²-dimethyl-2â€²-pyrimidyl)pyrazole, a potential anti-cancer agent

Neutral bis-complexes of palladium(II) with 5(3)- methylpyrazole-3(5)-carboxamide (mpa) and 5(3)- methylpyrazole-3(5)carbohydrazide (mph) of the type PdX2·2L (where L = mpa, mph; X = Cl, Br, I, SCN, NO3, ClO4) have been synthesised and spectroscopically characterised. Available physico-chemical data indicate the mpa complexes of Pd(II) to be trans-square planar species with the primary ligand molecule showing monodentate behavior through the pyrazolyl ring nitrogen only. The Pd(II)-thiocyanate complex of mpa is proposed to have a pseudo-square pyramidal geometry attained through bridging anionic component. The complexes PdX2·2mph (X = Cl, NO3) appear to be six-coordinate species at least in the solid state; the corresponding thiocyanato variety has in all probability a five coordinate structure. The species, Pd(ClO4)2·2mph is a usual four coordinate one with non-coordinating perchlorate group. The monochelates, PdX2·mph (X = Br, I), are cis-square planar varieties. The ligand molecule, mph, in all cases is believed to function as (N,N) bidentate ligand in its 'imidol' form except in the thiocyanate complex where unusually it exhibits both the monodentate and bidentate functions in the same species. © 1986.
