Wireless sensor networks consisting of many small sensor nodes with limited power resources, are useful in gathering data in different environment. Some of the algorithms focus on setting up an event path and the nodes get the information by sending the queries to the event path. On the other hand some algorithms flood the event information from source node to its neighbors and from neighbors to the neighbors of neighbors and so on. The first type involves extra delay, and the second type consumes more power. In this paper we introduce a new protocol 'MERCC' which can handle multiple events at a single instance with power effective methodology. MERCC tries to retain the performance even in case of network congestion. © 2012 Springer-Verlag.
