Abstract
To summarize, we find (a) that although presence of oxygen and mercury are both essential, mercurous chloride plays an important part in the reaction leading to the formation of calomel and loss of hydrochloric acid and (b) that the observed e. m. f. corresponds within the limits of experimental error, to the actual concentration of the acid in the electrode vessel. © 1930, American Chemical Society.
