An attempt is made to study the effect of carrier degeneracy on the Debye screening length of the carriers in tetragonal semiconductors taking degenerate n‐Cd3As2 as an example. It is found on the basis of the Karavaev and Borisenko model, which includes all types of anisotropies in the energy spectrum and has recently been demonstrated in the literature to be the most valid model for Cd3As2, that the screening length decreases with increasing carrier concentration as expected for degenerate semiconductors. Moreover, the tetragonal crystal field effectively reduces the same length with increasing amount of reduction with decreasing electron concentration. The corresponding results for isotropic parabolic energy bands are also obtained from the expressions derived. Copyright © 1986 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA
