The annual biocalcification of aragonite by Macoma birmanica was found to be 314.3 g m -2 y -1 which is 2.5 times higher than biomass production and almost equal to the elimination rate, 311.4 g m -2 y -1 . Rapid response of this biogenous aragonite to the processes of neutralization of the anthropogenic carbon dioxide through its dissolution was observed, which was almost close to its maximum capacity.
